I have been given a Woodmen KL 800 lathe but.... the motor keeps tripping the electrics within 1-2 seconds of starting.
I can not find any info on this lathe and am wondering if it is worth getting a replacement motor or just scrapping it off
this is the first lathe I have owned and am very new to turning (hav'nt done any yet)
advice gents please

There are two ways to trip the electrics and the causes are different.

1) Overload. Trips the breaker because the current is too high.
2) RCD Trip. A leakage of current to earth.

Do you know which type tripping you Have?

Bill

It might be and I stress MIGHT be the start/run capacitor. As this could. Cause an imbalance and an overload.

whooo!! stripped the motor down and a wire had perished(earthed out) , replaced it and all working.
