Whats happening in Europe?

My friend asked me whats happening in France at the moment as his daughter rang home to reassure them that she wasnt near all the troubles... looked at various (considered) reputable news sources all to no avail. In fact the dearth of news about and from Europe generally is quite remarkable! Could any of our continental friends shed any light?
It made me wonder if we are experiencing a 'news blackout' or something ... along the lines of no news is good news perhaps? Or am I just being cynical?

I think in France it's mostly a fuel blockade. French strike action doesn't normally make the news in the UK. I guess this is similar?

There was a peaceful anti-violence protest that got hijacked by other protestors and became somewhat violent with the police using teargas etc. I think it was fairly localised and it was only the headline "anti- violence" coupled with a picture of French riot police that caught my attention.

No, just too many other big stories that another strike/disturbance in France isn't headline news compared to crashing airplanes/Brexit nonsense/Queens speech etc.

There is quite a lot of trouble in France going unreported and various other stories but our government dosent want us to know until after the referendum.

"No worker riots in France this week" might be news but other than that it's just a same old.
Summer is nearly here so it will soon be the air traffic controllers turn.
