i am after a decent set of drill bits, i dont want to pay through the nose.
but i dont want the rubbish ones too.
can anyone recomend a decent set please. thanks.

May not be an instant result for you, but I've been bulk buying the boxes of HSS drill bits that Lidl's sell about twice a year. Typically they cost around £5-99 and comply with the German DIN standards etc. Beat the similar sets on offer from Screwfix etc. every time in terms of value for money. Just a great shame they are not a regular item amongst the cans of beans etc! Worth looking out for. Oh, you get funny looks from the girl on the cash desk when you've got five sets in the trolley.

To do what? Metal drilling would be different to concrete or wood. SDS, Masonry with plain shanks, lip and spur?

Famag lip and spur bits, especially if it's hardwood, they also do chrome vanadium versions for soft woods. Made in Germany rather than the far east. Best I've used.
