This is for a planer, so is a wood working project !!!

I'm converting the 3 phase motor from star to delta to run on an inverter. I've had to cut and replace a number of the cord bindings for the windings and am wondering whether I should paint them over with a varnish and is so what sort.

Many thanks for any help.

Shellac is the traditional stuff to use, but there's other, more modern, substances you could use. As long as it's not providing insulation, the shellac will be fine though.

Thanks guys - memory says I played around with french polishing very many moons ago - like 25years! - and might possibly still have some shellac.
