I need to replace the 2 1/2" vacuum hose on my shop vac (Record RSDE1) but I'm struggling to find any. I bought 3 metres of 2 1/2" hose from Rutlands last time but it's been out of stock there for some time. Anyone know where I can get some at a reasonable price. The 2 1/2" works well enough but not adverse to dropping to maybe 2" if it's more freely available. Thanks in advance.

I bought 6m of 2.5" hose on ebay last week. Actually I didn't buy enough and need to get some more but it was much cheaper than Axminster etc. and they didn't even have any.

I hope you don;t mind me high jacking this page but how do you attach a 2./1/2 in pipe to your extractor have you got a reducer any photo,s because iv;e got the same model and make and would like to do the same
Thank;s Mock

No problem Mock. I'm sure someone makes an adaptor that fits but unfortunately Record don't, their adaptor goes on the 4" hose. I found some 2 1/2" OD plastic tube to fit inside the hose I bought from Rutlands then made a collar out of MDF to fit the machine inlet. Not very elegant but it's lasted quite a few years! Picture to follow.

The MDF collar is just a snug fit held in with just one screw at the top. The plastic tube is again just a friction fit in the collar. Hope this helps. If someone knows of a plastic adaptor that fits perhaps they'd post a link. It's been a while since I looked so perhaps someone makes one now?

Thank,s so you got a 2.1/2 inch pipe does that improve the Suction i should imagine so my pipe 4 in plus thank,s for the idea
Mock

I'm not sure if it improves the suction or not but the smaller hose is much more convenient. I even use it for sucking up leaves in the garden so can't see me ever using 4 inch hose.

Did you mange to get some hose after ? also as it got to have the wire running through the pipe

I bought a reducer from a 4in to a 2./1/2 to day Charnwood was the make but bought it from Timberman, Bronwydd, Carmarthen can i ask what filter bag you use on your (Record RSDE1 paper or cloth at the moment i use a cloth bag but for some reason it get's blocked up with fine dust very quickly

I use the paper ones. They seem to last ages, I just give them a brush off when I empty the bin.

Did you already get sorted?

if not I have an unused length in my garage I was about to put on ebay (don't have 20 posts yet so can't list here)
David

Yes all sorted, the hose arrived the other day. I also bought a length of 68mm drainpipe and a connector from B&Q. I cut off a piece of the pipe to use as a suction pipe to pick up large shavings off the floor and leaves in the garden. The male end of the connector fits nicely on the hose.
