Unknown box ?

Does anyone have an idea what this box is for
It has N34 MK11955 on one end
And W&W as a mark next to this
It’s 2foot by 1foot by 6.5 inch
All aluminium

Looks like an ammunition box to me. N34 is a size specification. Then I think MK11955 will be Mark one, 1955.

I have one same from the army surplus store I was told It held ammunition I used it for years as my router tool box.

Edit:
Just seen yours has hinges the original has the same flip catch on both sides.

Just had a look on the opposite side as the flip catch and it’s missing the other catch

I believe the N34 Mk1 was a smoke grenade which could also be projected from a rifle.
