Hi, I've got a Graduate short-bed. I've been given a sanding attachment for the outboard side which consists of a 14" aluminium faceplate and a cowl.....looks like the standard sort of arrangement. I fitted the faceplate and all seemed ok. However, when I stop the lathe the faceplate continues to spin and unscrew itself - scary!

Am I just not screwing it on tightly enough in the first place or am I missing something?

Yes thats it but a thin leather washer under the register helps
Put the spanner on the spindle under the top cover and really pull or shock the faceplate on...its difficult if you have the cowl on i know..

Is there not provision on the plate for a grubscrew to prevent unscrewing? Wouldn't be a difficult job to fit one if you have access to appropriate taper tap.
