I have just bought a screwdriver that cost £40
What sort of screwdriver costs that much ?

I may embarrass myself here, but i bought a screwdriver in about 1992 and it cost 36 quid then. I remember cos i thought i must be raving at the time.
20 years of workday (hammer) daily use later it is still as good as it was when i bought it. It does not require batteries or lectrik. Its weetabix powered! and guaranteed for life!
tis an older version of this http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item.asp ... ir=catalog
You do get what you pay for

I noticed the effects of inflation when I thought about the jam doughnut that I had just casually purchased for 50p.

In my youth, that would have meant handing over a ten bob note - my weekly wages as a Saturday morning grocer's boy!

Not to mention the calories we can do without Don! :D
