The great workshop cleanup of 2014

AKA where I hold myself accountable for getting the workshop ship shape by posting here about how great it's going to be in only three weeks' time.

Here is what I had before, when we had just moved in and it was being used as a general storage facility:

Miter saw taking up a ton of room, and the poor triton router stand reduced to just another flat space to put things. On the left you can see the previous owner's workbench, and on the right is the Giant Ikea Table and a ton of brewing stuff.

and on the other side

All of my beer fridges and freezer, and a wall with no fixed shelves, aka waste of space.

And yesterday I spent about 10 hours organizing, throwing things out, and general cleanup. I was too tired to take a large number of pictures but here are two that really struck me:

One part of the floor was mopped half an hour before, another part has not yet been mopped. Can you tell which is which?

And here's a pile of dust from (no kidding) only two square meters of floor. I wore a mask for most of the afternoon.

Hi Phil
I am a bit of a fanatic when it comes to workshop tidy up and organization. So look forward to more posts.
Can't say I have ever mopped my concrete floor though!
My concrete floor is a real PITA, bumpy and not particularly level, however I did find a couple of coats of watered down PVA helped to seal it and thus reduce the dust problem.

Same problem here. Where did you get that much PVA? I assume you poured it on and leveled with a float? We have considered pouring a new 'top coat' for the floor using self-levelling concrete: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Self-leveling_concrete No idea where to get it around here though.
At my shop in addition to the floor, there is no insulation in the shop, thus there are mold issues. Best I can do on that is to keep the air circulating.

get a wood burning stove in asap - that will do two if not three things .
1, warm the gaff up 2, dry it out thus no more mould 3, reduse your rubbish/off cut pile and 4, keep the coffee warm

A few more pics of work to date:

Replacing the old strip lighting with newer units, in a better position further back along the wall.

Slightly more organized but no lights whatsoever!

(here you can also see the nearly-complete chicken coop) My brother-in-law and I spent a good 12 hours getting the wiring through the various nooks and crannies and kinked conduit, but...

We finally got it done.

The new lighting somewhat ready, and the new conduit going in.
