If I make a small side table out of wood the top will be attached with turn-buttons. What if I want a top made of granite or marble - how do I attach that to the rest of the table? - bond a piece of ply to the stone????

I used mastic to bond my granite worktop to the tulip-wood frame, 20 years ago and it's still rigidly attached. I'm standing at it now typing this!

I don't mean a granite worktop. This small table will be around 500 x 300mm and the top needs fixing to the base. I can guarantee the table will be lifted and moved around - by the holding the top - and I'd like to avoid leaving the rest of the table behind!!

araldite some tabs on the granite underside just inside the line of the wooden apron with predrilled holes to put a screw into the apron

This was my thinking but I was wondering if anyone has tried this?
