Startrite Mercury 5 Quill removal

Frustrated with Muphies arrival today! My lovely Startrite Mercury 5 drill has decided to have a wobble, or more precisely something has happened to cause the chuck to waltz around out of true. I need to remove the quill to have a good investigation as to what has happened / determine whether it's doomed to be ather broken up and sold for spares.

I've been on Mahine spares WEB site and found the schematic, however, does anyone know the sequence to get the quill out once I've got the cast aluminium pulley block off hopefully in one piece. Muphies brother also joined the party and the pulley is secured to the quill by corrosion as normal!!

Any advise would be really appreciated. #-o

IIWY I'd try another chuck in the machine, before starting on a strip-down.

I've removed the chuck and verified that it's definitely the quill. A good tug and it moves....darn!!
