I made a couple of very simple clocks. Below are pictures of the front, back, and back with the cover removed. It's mahogany and pine. The back is held on with a french cleat.

I'm happy with the look, but they're not terribly well made... They are not well balanced - when the back is removed, they fall down very easily. I think after sanding, the bottom is slightly rounded, and without the weight of the back section they fall forward easily.

If doing something similar again, I would have the body lean back very slightly, so even without the back section on, the clock would still be leaning on the legs at the back.

Very nice,you know I've never even thought about making simple clocks of this ilk.

I reckon they would sell like hot cakes at car bootys and ebay?

Those battery operated mechanisms are fairly cheap.
