Hi I'm just doing a shaker style seating bech - but with reclaimed boards.

The trouble is I'm unsure as to how I should attach the rails and the legs. Either brad nails or glue?

Also how should i make the piece more stable - notch into the seat? or can i run an extra piece of support unseen..

Very simple - but I'd like to keep it authentic.

Thanks
Graham

Glue and nail the apron to the seat, cut out notches for the legs and nail everything together.

Nice bench.
I'd house the legs into the apron. Plus nails, glue.
PS I'd also nail the top boards along their edges, into the apron

If you are putting the apron on, I'd put glue blocks or a baton underneath on the inner face to screw to the uprights and top. It won't be seen and it'll help a lot! I'd also house the upright into the top or dowel it to stop it twisting.
