As the title suggests, do you need to seal oak.

I need to apply some stain first, and the finish will be Liberon oil, when I did my test piece it was "Thirsty" to say the least.

Is it worth putting a sealing coat on first? if so what do I use

Cheers

Jed

Try a thinned coat of shellac sealer, (a spit coat) this helps to even out the colour saturation of stains. It works really well on mdf. Try out on a spare piece, spit coat then stain then oil to see if all three products are compatible with one another first.
