Hi,

would this sanding star from Toolstation do?

If its too big (125mm dia.) or too coarse a grit, try to find a mandrel or cheap arbor for mounting cutting or sanding discs on an electric drill and sandwich your own abrasive sheet as on the scrollsaw site. If you can't find an arbor, a bolt or piece of studding (threaded rod) plus two large washers and two nuts will do.

I expect that you need cloth backed abrasive as paper backed (sandpaper in its literal sense) may quickly be torn and fall apart

Its ok to grip the threaded part of bolt or studding in a drill chuck. It may be worth locking the nuts in place with superglue once assembled.

Regards
Graham
