Rockbur? Devon.

I'm trying to trace the place name of Rockbur in Devon.

The census records show it as being the birth place of one of my ancestors but I can find no record of it.
Assuimg therefore that it could be a spelling mistake could anyone offer any likely correct spellings.

Might be Rockbeare? "A small straggling village, six miles E.N.E. of Exeter, and 5 miles W. of Ottery St. Mary." HTH

Possibly Rockbeare? on the A30 about 5 - 10 miles north east of Exeter, near Exeter airport?

There is a "Roborough" in Devon just outside Torquay.

Ray,Mike, thanks for that. Interesting link too. This genealogy lark quickly becomes addictive. I even found a great great grandfather who was a carpenter/joiner! I wish his tools were still in the family - and probably his skills too :lol:
