I'm thinking about buying one of these and just wondered if anyone who owns one of has experience with it could give me their opinion.

I would like to resaw hard maple up to 22cm thick, perhaps even a little thicker one day. I would of course use 3 Teeth per inch blade.

How do you think the saw will cope? I can probably accept blade drift of 2mm as the parts will be planed again after sawing. Less is desirable.

Thanks.

It's all to do with the blade - I've had excellent results on oak with a 1.3tpi 1inch blade from Tuffsaws. I've not worked with maple so don't know how it compares to oak - I'm sure others will suggest something else from Tuffsaws to achieve what you want if the 1.3tpi blade isn't suitable.

Ooh i didnt know about the 1.3 ones. I could try 3 tpi first and if it doesnt go smoothly try 1.3. The axminster ground bandsaw blades look interesting, though in the past ive been buying from tuffsaws.
.
Maple is a little harder than oak and doesnt have the open grain either. I think its closer to beech in hardness.
