Hi there,

Anyone got recommended experience for a 10" lightweight 240v sawbench, before I trawl te Internet to buy something.

Thanks

Just have a look at the Bosch Gts10 I have for sale its an excellent machine, lightweight, but very accurate- I'm not pushing you into buying my one- (my one is 110v) but it will give you an idea of what is out there and what is good - (I can say that with confidence)

Axi 200 is a gold standard.

If you mean the TS-200, it's a fine saw, but it's only 8" (200mm). If the OP wants a 10" for some particularly thick cutting, they may find it inadequate.

is the need for it being lightweight because it needs to be mobile?

what are you going to be cutting on it? is it for ripping or cross cutting or both? sheet goods or timber?

It needs to be lightweight as to move it about the workshop, not really mobility in a vehicle. Seems to me every time I bid on one on Fleabay it gets bid up, when I leave it alone it goes for a song, sometimes they go for not much less ah retail prices!!

If you just need to move it in the workshop you could use a wheeled base. I do this with my planer thicknesser and others use the same type of thing with saw and other machinery. The current base i use I bought from Rutlands in one of their frequent sales - http://www.rutlands.co.uk/workshop-&-po ... obile-base - it was on special at half price for a while but their usual sales offer 10-15% off often with free delivery.

The thing to watch with a lightweight saw bench is the tendency for it to tip when working with longer heavier timber so you need to ensure its stability. Also the noise of brush motors in the smaller lightweight saws needs to be taken into consideration - not only will you need ear protection but you need to consider nuisance noise for neighbours if you are using it for protracted periods.
