I'm thinking of making a couple of simple dovetailed boxes out of purpleheart front and basswood side with a birdseye maple lid, for my daughters. Possibly a bit of an eyesore in regards to stark colour contracts, but just the sort of bling my daughters will like.

The purpleheart is at 8% moisture content.
The birdseye maple is at 12% moisture content.
The basswood is 16% moisture content.

I'm concerned that the basswood may be a bit too wet still. However, I'm unfamiliar with this wood (and the others for that matter), so don't know if it typically moves much and if this would cause a problem with the finished boxes.

Any advice, greatly appreciated.
