Hi all,

I recently used up all of my 64mm Kreg outdoor (blue ones) pocket hole screws that came with my jig. I was very surprised to find out how much these screws cost on their own. The best I could find was £9 for 50 screws, which is 18 pence per screw. Only slightly better pricing when buying in vast quantities. I don't really want to spend £40 on some screws though!
Pretty pricey when building something chunky for the garden that might need a bunch of screws.

Does anyone have an alternative supplier/brand of screw that works for pocket holes? The Triton and Trend ones appear to be the same sort of price. Surely there must be a smaller brand doing these at reasonable prices? I mean it's not like they're made of anything fancy. It's just a square drive flat head screw!
I tried looking in the local hardware stores for square drive flat heads and the only options I found were way to thick in the stem for pocket holes or had massive heads that also made them too big.

This is a decent kit,
Trend Pocket Hole Screws for Hard & Softwoods, Selection Pack of 850, Self-Tapping Zinc Coated Square Drive Screws in Carry Case, PH/SCW/PK1 https://amzn.eu/d/dlfE6Uc

They are expensive, but the best ive found was trend, £10 for 200 https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07M8JLZY4/
Ah, that is a much better value pack. 8 pence per screw is better than 18! Thank you.

Thanks - I was trying to just buy the size I need rather than a multi-size kit as I always end up with lots of the middle sizes knocking around for years! (also, that kit doesn't have the 64mm screws) I only really use pocket holes for joining 18mm cabinet material or for construction lumber (usually 2 by something) on outdoor things, so all those medium size screws would go to waste.

Use ordinary CS pozidrive. Add a little washer if you feel the need. Very cheap.

The ones in that link are not equivalent to the blue-coated outdoor-duty version you requested. You should also confirm the price quoted above is correct: looking at the link just now, £10 for 200 is for a 50mm long item.

If you can forego the outdoor requirement and have cash to invest in a torx bit, these might work:

Ah, good catch. Yes, it's outdoor ones I need. The search continues!

Thanks - those are the ones - Still comes out more expensive than Amazon when you add the £5.50 (!) shipping charge though.

It looks like the amazon ones with free shipping are probably the best I'm going to find. No one else seems to make this size of pocket screw with outdoor coating other than Kreg! I guess I'll go with them.

£16.45 + (< 5.50) = xxx. Little cheaper vs £ 22.08.

You're right, I was looking at the before VAT price on Amazon, so the toolbox scotland one is a few pence cheaper.

Really I was hoping someone else would manufacture screws like this so I didn't have to pay the Kreg premium. But alas!
