Picked this up in The Times.

if you email [email protected] with "Subject Access Request" in the subject line and give them your email and phone details then after a short while you get this encouraging message..

Thanks for getting in touch.

We managed to locate your mobile number and the email address you detailed.

I can confirm that I have now marked these contact details for removal from our marketing database, and added them to our client suppression files.

These details have also been flagged to ensure that they will not be added again at any further point.

One less avenue for cold calls to plague you.

No you won't but I think you'll find that they farm out a database for others to use. Or if they call you then they will be cold calling on behalf of another company. So you won't know that it is them.

BT put me on some sort of list for people who dont like all these cold calls. It didn't make much difference for the first couple of days but they have pretty much disappeared after that.

Ah. A virtual office for numerous companies then. I rarely get any marketing calls these days. The only people with my mobile number are the bank and people I know/customers. All other utilities are under instruction to communicate in writing.

Graham, that'll be TPS. Another option is to be ex-directory.

We have been ex directory for years and used to pay for the privilege but I am not sure it exists any more and so many calls are computer generated that they don't use a directory anyway.
