I thought I'd share my latest creation with you. It is a box made from oak with 6mm bb plywood oak leaf inlay. I carved the acorns from what I think was a piece of bass wood using a belt sander and a rotary tool. I ebonised the box so that the leaves would stand out. Thanks for looking.

Please excuse my ignorance but what is the purpose of the 2 x small vertical "blocks" at the "back" of the box? Hinging I guess.

excellent. how have you done the shading on the leaves and acorns?
 
Thanks for your comments. The two blocks at the back are posts for the hinges and the acorn shading is done with a spoon tip in my pyrography iron.
