Hi all, have been lurking for awhile and have just set up my lathe -myford ml8-have turned a few bowls and some pens (7mm slimline)has anyone noticed that the mechanisms retract whilst in use, or have i a) done something wrong or b) got a dud batch or c) is this normal ?

Hi Chris I notice some pen kits do that. Craft Supplies sell some that you can feel it click when extended fully and seem to stay put. Show some of your work off. We all like pics.

Hi Chris, welcome aboard.

I have had some 7mm pens walking back as you describe, but can't pin them down. Have had some from Craft Supplies & Turners Retreat, and not all the pens do it. Also I have found that it doesn't help if you have a heavy writing hand. Most have been OK though.
