Hello all
Have recently started new hobby
Making mistakes but enjoying myself
Started off with a bookcase made out of oak sleeper
Worked out fine
Made a few radiator covers/console tables getting the industrial legs from Etsy
Tried making coffee table used green oak but, of course it moved
Then remade using kd square edge rough sawn
Worked hard trying to flatten bows using planer and sander
Now making taller bookcase and would be grateful for any advice to straighten rough sawn oak boards
Would a jointer do this?
Don’t really have/want to waste money and will be looking to start/take basic woodworking school next year

Welcome to the asylum, I'm a woodturner so straight/flat isn't something I can help with but there's plenty here that will be more than able and willing to help

Hi and welcome ,, rough sawn timber without the likes of a planer thicknesser / slab flattening mills leaves you with hand tools . I don’t have the space or funds for large cast Iron machines so I tend to start with as flat and planed timber as I can get . Used / recycled / reclaimed is my go to. If I have to buy new then I pick my own . I have a small portable planer ( makita nb2012 and it’s pretty good for my skill level and needs ..
