not sure about the infill on #3 tho - it looks like MDF ? . Might be just the photo

I like them all, especially the third one which, as well as looking attractively oriental, also looks deceptively straight forward. Yet cutting straight lines with a scroll saw takes much more skill than cutting curves, IMO.

Care to talk about finish, Pete? It might be the way the photograph was taken, but the end grain on some of these projects seems to be a little dull compared to the top/front surfaces. Since I work mostly in MDF and dollop paint over everything, it's not an issue I have to confront very often :) . However, I have heard it suggested that sanding end grain with a finer grit than the rest of the project before applying the finish gives better results.
