This is my workbench using with a benchcrafted leg vise, made from oak boards laminated
together for the bulk of the bench although the top is made from 13 x 2by4 pine boards
laminated together. The top has dog holes drilled through walnut dowel which was inserted
into the pine to strengthen the dog holes. (will upload a pic of this soon!)

Well now that looks like a very professional workbench that should give you a lifetimes usability. I note you are also from Bristol, we seem to be gathering quite a crowd of us on UKW!

Thanks! This was my first project since i left school, i have only come to woodworking a couple of years ago. But this project got me hooked!

Looks like a lovely workbench, i'd be interested in seeing more pictures of the leg vise if you don't mind taking a few more pics?

Guess you won't be wet 'n' dry sanding the rust off old saws with WD40 as a lubricant on that beauty!

BugBear (who does that sort of thing on his Workmate)

Thanks for the extra pics geoff, looks very smart.

I've got a nice new custom workbench on my roundtuit list, but its not near the top of the list yet!!!

I've gotta nock out some of the more pressing jobs (like finishing boarding the walls of the new workshop!)

Blimey what a beauty, I presume you mean '...since I left school after twenty five years teaching woodwork', . Seriously that looks super.

Have subscribed for your channel and looking forward to the video on this. Please make sure you spend a bit of time on the benchcrafted hardware, I have always admired it, but given the cost wondered if it really is worth the money.

Terry.

Thanks! and for the subscribe.
I will be sure to focus on the leg vice, i think its a thing of beauty and well worth the money. more to follow!

Cracking bench. Were you happy with vice? I've long envied Benchcrafted stuff, but I can't imagine any real advantage that vice would have over my 53e that could possibly justify the price? I confess to never having used one. Or even seen one, come to that.

As a vice it is great, substantially made, cant fault it in anyway.
But most of all it is satisfying to use, spinning the heavy metal wheel and having the vice glide open is a pleasure every time.
The look and feel of it fantastic, and as i took so much pride and time in making the bench i felt justified in adding this cost.
Every time i go in my garage and look at my bench i get a certain amount of satisfaction, and this addition just adds to that.
So i guess what i am saying is its more than its practical function as a vice its the pleasure i get from seeing it on my bench and each time i use it.

Good for you. I salute anyone who actually gets out there and makes things, and you've made a superbly impressive something that gives you a great deal of satisfaction and utility to boot. Welcome to the forum and I'm really looking forward to seeing your future projects!
