Hi,

This is some pictures of my first ever workbench. It was my first time using planes, cutting half laps and using chisels for some tidyup.

Learnt a lot! It was only my second project ever and first time really using hand tools in this way. I used some plans from Rex Kruger on YouTube, simply because i thought the build looked achievable.

I had to learn how to sharpen etc and get creative with work holdings without a bench!

She's not perfect and there's a lot to be improved upon :) but I'm happy to have a functioning workbench

I started it in October last year.. went mad at the start, got frustrated when I felt like I couldn't plane anything 'flat', lost track then went at again in the last month to finish it. it's made of construction pine, as I didn't want to make a meal of anything more expensive! Although I did purchase some poplar for the vise to try something different, there is a oak spacer under the bench for the support section of the vise (got given for free :)

Going to make a plane stop for the bench and add some dog holes for extra holding options, but for now, it's done!

Cheers!

It is more difficult to make anything without a bench. A workbench is teh heart of a workshop. Now you have one you will find work so much easier such as having a good flat platform to plane material on
Well done

Great bench, 👍
BTW, is that "The Arthur Dent, throwing the nutromatic cup" or an " A Arthur Dent" as the wise old bird observed.
Can I spy your Towel in the background man, every hitch hiker needs his towel!

Love it! That may be your last workbench!
