Hi

Could anyone please recommend a good brand of mineral oil for a chopping board and also advise the best way to apply it.

The board is made from walnut, cherry and maple

Many thanks

So to the original question, what would a food safe finish be plz as i am thinking of making a bread board then carving into it but i need to treat it some how!

We've already had the suggestion of Chestnut's food safe oil, which according to the bottle is a paraffin oil. For surfaces in contact with food, the green woodworkers I know have variously recommended Tung oil, raw linseed oil, or walnut oil. Tung and walnut might have nut allergy issues. Linseed might turn things a rather bright yellow.

Mineral oil/paraffin oil - same thing.
I've found that vegetable oils can go rancid.
Personally I don't treat chopping or cutting boards as I like to give them a good scrub.
We have a carved oak bread board I bought 40yrs ago which is still going strong.
