I sought advice from the forum a couple of weeks ago from members regarding a master/slave extension lead to operate my sander and vac.

Well, I got one on the bay for a tenner including delivery. It is rated up to 500W (for the main device, in this case a sander, my cam vac is 1Kw) so ample for my Makita 150mm ROS which is rated at 310W. I was initially disappointed because having plugged in the sander and the vac it did not work right off when I started the sander. I noticed the sander was at its lowest speed setting so I set it to top speed and the vac started up?? Not sure why this was the case but perhaps it requires a set amount of amperage before it kicks in #-o

You can vary the speed once the vac has started, just not a low speed start.

It also turns off the vac approx 3 secs after the ROS is turned off so just about enough time to clear the hose I guess.

Just thought it worth a mention.

That sounds good but I am a bit concerned about the stated power/ You say it takes 500w but your cam vac plus sander are 1350. Am I misreading something ?

I'm no electrician but the rating I believe is for the principle device, in my case the sander. the other device (vac) plugs in and would operate on the socket as on any other extension.

I don't believe the rating is consecutive, of course I could be wrong although it does switch the 1Kw vac on, I also tried it on a smaller Vac with the same outcome i.e. only comes on at full setting.

Do you have a link to the item you bought David? I am intrigued, could be a very cheap solution to this little issue.
