I'd like it for nailing through 18mm MDF. I'd also like it portable to take to clients houses to use for pinning AND for touching up the odd bit of paintwork (I spray all my work in the workshop).

What can people recommend? I would like to be able to use the same spray gun on my bigger compressor (when I buy it).

There are a few around that seem pretty similar. Just want to see what others thoughts are. Not too worried about the noise it makes if it's perhaps better quality or more powerful.

Cheers, Mike

Hello Mike.

I used a Clarke Pioneer 220 in the past for upholstery, very portable but only a 10 litre tank, ideal for nailing/stapling but probably to small for spraying.

After my workshop was ready last year I bought the Clarke Airmaster Tiger 14/60. Big 50 litre tank and 14.5 cfm. I bought a spray gun, grit blaster, angle grinder and impact wrench. I couldn't spray to save my life, and the grit blaster and angle grinder lasted 40 minutes before they stopped working, so they went back to Machine Mart. I sold the compressor and spray gun, and then bought the Clarke Panther.

The Panther has a 25 litre tank and 9.5 cfm, which was ideal for the impact wrench which required a minimum of 8 cfm. Most of the other 25 litre compressors had a cfm of between 6 - 7.5.
It fills pretty quick and isn't so heavy you can't lift it if you need to, doesn't take up a lot of space, and has twin outlets. I can't comment on noise as I'm a little deaf :)

Cheers for the reply. Some interesting info. So the Panther sounds alright at the moment.

Any others takers?
