A reassuringly robust thud on the mat Monday morning heralded the arrival of Axminster's latest publication (workshop porn as LOML calls it  ).

Very discreetly mentioned amongst the new items (of which there aren't that many - for us mortals anyway) is the arrival of a baby brother for the Jet JPT310. The new machine apparently has all the capacities/features of the big one except for a couple of inches in planing width and shorter tables, but is substantially cheaper at under 800 quid incl. vat
Given that there have been a couple of threads and a fair bit of interest concerning the 310 when it was on "special" recently, I thought I would just mention it for those in the market for a 10" P/T.

While we're on the subject of the new catalogue how do others here feel about the inclusion/expansion of the commercial machines in the last couple of issues? I've always thought we here on UKW represent a fair representation of APT's customer base, but I can't imagine there's many (if indeed any) of us who have the wherewithall for a £13K panel saw, a £5K wood burning heater, or a dust extractor the size of a bungalow

Now I know APT have gone from strength to strength in recent years, and more power to them for doing so. But I can't help the nagging feeling that I've had a glimpse of a future where us small fry are catered for less and less in the race for the big customer. While it's interesting on one level for us mere mortals to have the opportunity to coo over huge industrial kit at the new premises in the west and similar purposed extension at Bobbing, I can't honestly say I feel more welcome there because of it. Actually I find it somewhat daunting, as if I don't really belong in there anymore spending in the £tens instead of £thousands.
Is it just me?
