It started like this !!! New project

Hi , peeps

Started another project , its a piece of chestnut , donated by a forum member some months back ( Thanks )

Got out the cutting equipment

and lopped a 18" ( 48cm ) chunk off

Installed it on the lathe

and roughed it to a cylinder

then started to hollow it out

ended up with LOTS of shavings

Good job I donate to the dustmen at Christmas well worth the £20 a year

Started to get deep :shock:

and nearing the edge , so out with the Laser

you set the thickness you want to remain

by moving the laser across

Its a Lyle Jameson deep hollowing kit , looks like this

Will update the thread over the weekend , to show you how its going :wink:

Looks similar to the one I saw digging the Channel tunnel. They used Lasers as well.
Are you in on Sunday Allen? I could pop round and see your new excavator.

Not yet Jenks

I have it drying for a while to see if it moves / cracks

All OK so far so fingers crossed , will give it another week or so the Finnish it off

Will post photos when done :wink:
