Hi

I'm Glenn
I run an electrical contracting business in West Yorkshire and I collect vintage machine tools as a hobby...I've 30 odd now...

I've got pillar drills, bench drills, radial drills and bench Grinders...I've got centre lathes, wood lathes, jointer and milling machines...I've got a mortiser, bandsaw, table saws and a spindle moulder...theres pedestal Grinders, donkey saws and a surface grinder...I've a shoe finishing machine that I'm going to set up for metal polishing...

Its all for flat belt running...all of it would have run off steam at one time

It's all in storage just now but I might just post picks up...if anyone's bothered...

Hi Glenn. welcome to the forum.
It all sounds very interesting and certainly something that would be of interest to many of the members, including myself. I saw an old vidoe of some steam driven tools years ago and it was facinating, so hope to see you on here again soon with lots of photos.
Malcolm

If you have any doubts about how much interest there is in such things, settle down with a cup of tea and have a read of this epic thread from a few years ago

wadkin-time-warp-workshop-kent-t58290.html

I think you will fit right in!
I've a wadkin EV...
lineshaft...

Same as that one in the workshop in that link

Someone on Canadian woodworking forum thought they could manhandle one they'd found into the back of an estate car...

Don't talk shyte I thought...theres nearly 1/2 a ton there...

I've 2 radial drills...

Ones a small one...fred pollard of Leicester...thats a 2MT...1920s

The other one is a William Asquith of Halifax...4MT and dates to around 1910-1920
there's a rating plate on it that says:
5" drill at 36RPM...its 9ft high with a 1/2 ton box table...

Its full of nice brass oil sight vials and other edwardian touches...

Bandsaw is a Watts of Sheffield...24" wheels...early 20s...theres not many around...

I've a pillar drill...3MT...thats by Easterbrook Allcard & company...you won't see another by this manufacturer

I've a 4MT pillar drill by Jones & Shipman Leicester...

It's got a 4 step pulley with 2 stage splitter...giving 8 spindle speeds...

3 ft circular table and 4 power feeds on a machine standing 8ft high and weighing just shy of a ton completes the scene...

Again...full of edwardian niceties such as brass sight vials etc etc...

Once I start dragging it all out to be 'processed'...(rebuilt/restored)...there will be pics...and Utube links...

you don't want a vintage hand operated morticer for your collection do you?

1910 I think.

it is in kirkstall if you do want it. not sure where you are.
