How to refinish this particleboard?

Hi Everyone
Unfortunately the particleboard finish on my bathroom cabinet got damaged and this picture is the result.


I have absolutely no idea how I'm meant to refinish this or mask the problem and what I need to be able to do this.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

Hi Francis. Is that a real wood veneer or a printed vinyl? If it is real veneer you could sand back the finish with 240 grit then build up the finish with some water based varnish. If it is vinyl you have a much harder task, you will need to sand it back with 240 grit but you will then need to paint the grain back in to match before re-applying a finish. Was it nail varnish remover that caused the damage?
