Help with a gift

Okay, so long story short my godson asked for a wooden gift.....a wooden fish
Sounds simple huh.?
Okay so he wants the mouth to be open and for him to put sweets in it.
Then when someone goes to get a sweet the mouth snaps shut. Like a trap.

I've tried everything I can think of but cannot work out how to make the mouth snap shut.

Anyone eve done anything like this?

How about a mousetrap type mechanism, when the fingers touch where cheese should be.......snap.

Would work, but I think the only downside would be the size of trap spring. I think it would hurt the lil guy.

Yeah would have to be a weaker spring than a mousetrap.

Make the mouth so he can operate it, he will have hours of fun trapping peoples fingers in it.
Just make sure that the lever is biased so he can't hurt any body i.e the length to the pivot on the side he operates is shorter than the mouth side.

What about a couple of rare earth magnets? One on its tongue and one in the roof of its mouth.
That'd make it snap!
