I have just acquired one of these and wondered if anyone had a manual please?

It's my first pillar drill so not experienced on routine maintenance and any guidance would be appreciated.

I have fully extended the quill and it seems very solid - so it's passed the first check!

Thx, Colin

These were sold by Elliot with the parts manufactured by Fobco. It was the success of Elliot at selling these drills at a good profit that was the impetus for Fobco to make and sell the 'small' Fobco Star drill. Have a look at http://www.lathes.co.uk/fobco/ which will give you some useful info. I have a Fobco Star and have never found an instruction manual - the only documentation I've found is that sold by by Tony on the http://www.lathes.co.uk website. If you look at fobco-drill-refurb-t64132.html you will get a good idea of this type of drill and how it is put together.

The drill you have is regarded as good, solid industrial British machinery - you will have noticed that these drills are far from lightweight.

Useful pointers - many thanks.

Heavy it is! Before picking it up I was planning to put together a small bench for it but now I've done my back in collecting it, I know I need build something much more substantial :( (and use an engine hoist to put it on the bench).

I have since found a spec sheet here: http://www.gandmtools.co.uk/makerspages ... gress1.pdf - so 115kg for the drill alone!
