I've been asked if I could make a dog whelping box had a google and found this one

made from this stuff High Density Polyethylene Sheet

Looks easy to make and affordable in 15mm (too thin ?) but I've never worked with that kind of stuff, has anyone else ? 20mm is a lot more expensive and she might be better off having a new wooden one every few years.

Another option would be plastic exterior cladding, had a google but can't find any straight forward long planks, they all appear to be funny shapes but I'm sure I've seen it on grand designs or other.

Found some upvc decking/fencing here but its hollow so might not be heavy enough.

Or maybe just keep my mouth shut and offer to make her a plywood one.

Any suggestions, advice would be appreciated

Thanks,
Carl

I don't have an answer to you're question, but would suggest you pay some attention to the dog bed base.
I was asked to make a wooden dog bed, with a raised floor and drilled for ventilation.
This was for a big Newfoundland, as the vet had said that why dogs will get smelly and have skin problems using the usual plastic dog bed, even with the usual cushion base.
If you have a plastic floor, just keep a watch on the dog scratching and being overly smelly.

Sorry my fault should have explained its for mother and puppies, so underside ventilation will be even smellier. Maybe thats why most of the plastic ones don't have bases.
