Just looking for some advice, ive recently been wickes and brought some planed wood to build some garden planters, i am going to try make something a bit more interesting than a simple box planter! (Try!!!). With the wood being bare as to put it, i have some wood dye which i was going to apply first as i wanted they a dark shade, but was unsure what the apply for the rot protection, could anyone advise me what to use on bare wood to protect it and in what order to apply it, any examples of your work would be great! Just don't want to throw-some potsin t he garden which will end up rotten next year, want something decent say 3-5 year life? Thanks

I built our chicken house and run with wood from Wickes about 5 years ago and treated it with Cuprinol shed and fence at the time and it shows no sign of any rot.

All the joints are simple dowel joints glued with Wickes weather proof glue and they are still secure.
