Hello everybody.

I recently bought a Freud FT2200 secondhand which came with 2 collets....a 1/2" and what I assumed would be a 1/4" too.
However the smaller looking collet is not a 1/4" and way too big for my 1/4" bits.

So basically I need a 1/4" collet.

BUT for those of you familiar with Freud routers....My half inch collet seems to 'click' in to the collet nut......so do I also need a 1/4 collet nut for the 1/4 collet to go in to or will a 1/4" collet go into the collet nut I already have for my 1/2" collet?

Please advise.

Just use a collet reducing sleeve in the 1/2" collet you have - they are readily available for a couple of quid. i would imagine the other collet you got was a 3/8"

No thanks. Ive read they are a stop gap problem solver on a short term basis but should not be used for heavy duty usage for prolonged periods. I want a propper collet.

Hi I have had a freud router from new it come with 1/4" collet reducer sleeve I don't now if they ever made a proper 1/4"inch collet and nut. For heavy duty work I use 1/2 inch cutters as its safer

Trend list them in 1/4" 8mm 3/8 and 1/2"
Casalstools.es built the Freud machines - don't know if they have a UK agent now that Freud don't sell machines
