We need to get a new TV and the one we like the look of (LG 32") comes with a built in Freeview box, which I assume is fine, but we have a lot of stuff recorded on a separate Humax box, that provided that service for us as well as acting as a digi recorder.
So will we be able to play the stuff on the Humax on the new TV, or will the two fight each other?

I don't do modern tech its all too confusing, and our teenager has grown up and left home.

Thanks for the advice .

Should be no problem, just a case of selecting the appropriate input on the TV, just the same as if you were playing a DVD from a DVD player.
For maximum flexibility you will need to split your aerial feed to TV and Humax if you wish to maintain maximum Humax recording capability and channel viewing.

I have a smart TV with hard disk recording, WiFi, and RJ45 network and internet connections, PC media server, DVD player and a Humax, and more permutations than I can get my head round but they are all selectable on the TV via the various inputs.

For instance we occasionally set the Humax to record two programs whilst watching a live program or video from DVD, PC or memory stick

Thank you

We will get the thing and see in what ways we can muck up the setting up process.

Just check the set you choose has at least two HDMI inputs at the rear so that you don't have to keep changing connectors over between DVD Player and Humax, just a case of selecting input with the handset controller.

If your Humax box is an old one it might not have an HDMI output. IIRC, our old one used SCART.
Does your chosen TV have a SCART input? It might not.
If not it might still have RGB input (three phono plugs) as these were used on some games consoles. If you are unsure, post some snaps of the available connections and I'm sure someone will know what to do.

Looks like things will be OK, as we have one scart socket, so thats the DVD player sorted, and two HDMI's for the Humax.

Ahh! the joys of modern technology.

well its in and working with both its inbuilt digi box and via the humax.
So thank you all for help, and suggestions - rime to put the feet up.
