I was given this Frame Saw this weekend together with this Pruning type one:

The Frame Saw is by W H Clay Ltd Sheffield with a 12" blade which I think is facing the wrong way - should they not cut on the pull stroke?
Does anybody sell blades in the UK ( I know Dicks & TFWW sell them)?

Push is more usual.

Definitely push - like using a hacksaw.

There was a thread a while back about using bits of bandsaw blade. Rutlands sell a bigger 18" blade. I found some on ebay a while ago - worth keeping an eye on there.

EDIT: Just found them at Tilgear - £2.50 each.

Hi Harbo,
When I was last at G&M tools they had quite a lot of bowsaw blades about that size.

This was a year or more ago so but it muight be worth a phone call.
They can of course be sharpened and as they almost always have a rip profile are relatively easy. It is also a good thing to practice sharpening on if (and you haven’t done this before) you have some spare blades - should it all go horribly wrong.
Jon.
