I've seen lots of power tools and machines marketed as factory reworks but I'm not entirely sure what they are. As far as I can see if they get sent out from the factory but get returned or whatever, they're not allowed to market them as 'new' so they call them reworks. Or demo models and whatnot get refurbished and sold as reworks.

Sooo, what actually gets reworked on them? New motors, new cosmetic stuff, everything that makes it not new, what...?

Seems a good plan, get a good few hundred bucks off some stuff and here's me trying to set up a workshop with not a lot of cash...

They get defective tools back and add repairs to them, bad switches, bearings whatever, and resell them...to good just to throw away.

Around 80% of my many power tools are DeWalt factory reworks, as I have a local dealer who specialises in them.

In every case they have performed exactly as one would expect a brand new tool to perform - to all intents and purposes they are brand new. The only difference is that they are marked as a 'rework' and they cost less than half the normal price!

They also carry a full guarantee. I have no hesitation in recommending them.

I bought a dewalt 621k router off a place on ebay for £80,i honestly couldn,t tell the difference between it and a new one,the only thing i noticed was the accesories packaging had been opened. There was no scratches on the bottom of the router or anywhere else.

Got my Dewalt RAS on ebay, £99 'reworked' as opposed to nearly £200 new. Looked new, fully guaranteed, performs great (except for dust extration  )

Iv'e bought many Dewalt factory re-works...

They are actually brand new....Because of H&S and trading laws any item returned as say a switch does not work straight out the box cannot be sold as new...it must be marked re-work.
