Another experiment that went wrong but the wife liked it so I completed it. As you can see the paint shrank back leaving what appears to be cracks. Somehow the more I look at it the more I like it. It is 10 1/2" X 2" and I believe it is lime

I think that's wonderful.

What people call a "happy accident".

Was it the paint or a reaction with the wood that caused that?

What paints and lacquer did you use?

PS, did you use a light box to take the pic?

I think the medium dried to quickly which caused the problem I will be trying again. This was poring medium and three colours of inks.

As for taking the photo's it is a basic set up and camera. as seen in these photos

Not surprising that "I like this"! I think almost anyone would, accidental or not! Thanks for showing Dalboy.

BTW, I'm not clear (sorry) on exactly what "pouring medium" is, sorry, but as I THINK that inks of just about any sort have water in them, and assuming that "pouring medium" is some sort of "chemical plastic" (like acrylic) in liquid form, my complete guess is that what's happened is that the poring medium has "crazed" when it first contacted the water in the ink - the sort of effect you can get when cellulose (accidentally) contacts water or oil paint.

As said, complete guess, but very nice result anyway

The cracking in my piece is down to the incorrect mixing proportions and not down to the incompatible products as both are water based acrylic types. A pouring medium is something used in pouring art world. Better to look at this https://youtu.be/mQys297OsGo which will explain a little better or this https://liquitex.com/techcardpouringmedium/
