Energy Saver Power Down Socket (Power Takeoff)

I have a small we/dry vac that I want to use with my table saw, but it doesn't have a power take off. Has anyone used something like this to get the same behaviour as the shop vacs with the power take off built in?

It states it'll do 13A?

I know there are other take off units, but they're upwards of £50, so I may as well just buy a new vac in that case.
