Hi All.

Made this last night, not done much turning before (about 10-15 hours).
Your comments would be welcome.

all the wood is Ash out of the scrap box.

Cheers

Hi Neil. Good work after the few hours practice you have had.

I know you used scrap wood, but IMO small items like that would look better in tighter grained timbers. I think the Ash grain can be overbearing on a small piece like that. Believe me it doesn't detract from your work, just my personal preference.

15 hours turning
What books dvds have you been looking at.
That is a very nice looking piece Neil :D
Any chance of some lessons

thanks for the positive comments guys, this could become addictive but have lots of flat work to do as well. and work just gets in the way.
made the design up on the fly but I have seen something simular before so can not claim it as my own. Am an engineering designer so designs I see tend to stick.
Have to make necklace stands and ring holders to match now.

Paul J. not got any dvd's but read quite a few books and had a look on u-tube for tecniques.

cheers
Neil

Nice piece - shape and proportions look very good;looks nice in a light wood (although I can see what Tam means about the grain of the timber, still thinks it looks nice in ash)

Excellent bit of turning, look forward to seeing more :D
