Hi, about to start looking at dust extraction for my converted cellar workshop, and I'm getting a bit confused about what's best to have.

I have a table saw and router table and assortment of power tools. I'm wondering what is the difference between this type...

And this type...

And which is better to have in a small workshop?

The first one is for machinery that produces chips rather than fine dust.

The 2nd is better for fine dust, but will also collect chips.

2 ways to do this. 1st would be to use the axminster one. It will be quieter for use in effectively your house.

2nd option but noisier is the sip one or similar plus a cyclone. Either this

or something along the lines of

or similar. You can make either yourself :)

Thanks for the reply.

So, if I went for the Axminster style one, I wouldn't need a cyclone?

Is the Axminster type right for a table saw and router table?

Also, I have a wickes wet and dry vacuum, would it be worth making a cyclone for that, for hand power tools?

It depends on what saw you have? What you could do is try a cyclone for now with the machinery and see how you get on.

Plenty of tutorials on youtube on making them :)
