Hi Folks,

I have been doing some work with MDF recently and the amount of dust is becoming a pain to clean up. I currently have an old dyson that I had kicking around which I hook up to the various tools I use but its not a very good solution. I have a small workshop (8'x12') and most of my powertools are mobile or handheld so I need something that is portable.

Budgets as ever are a bit tight so was looking at the Earlex powervac from screwfix.

I will be using it with a sander, router, small table saw and mitre saw (although this one may be pointless without some extra work as its got the usual mitre saw extraction capabilities).

Does anyone have any experience of this vac or any recommendations in a similar price range?

Thanks

I use a cheap MacAlister? from B&Q for sweeping up and connecting to my TS crown guard etc. It has a power take off too. Noisy but it works

I have probably left everyone wondering what i'm talking about - well i've shrunk now from a 109" to a 90

I tired to buy something from them a week ago and they've gone under - can't pay through the website and phoneline is dead.

Jen,

They went a couple of years ago.. one of those fires in the night

I did read about that afterwards and put the 2 together. They should really take their website down. Explains why the prices are so cheap though!

sorry about that I have used them in the past, gutted myself because at that price I was looking at geting a bargain!

Marine Blue with Lime stone roof station wagon.

Did a full chassis up rebuild before selling it and shipping it off to america when I changed jobs and couldnt afford it. Somehow the Disco that followed it just didnt put the same smile on my face.

To everyone else who doesnt want to debate the pros and cons of leaf sprung landrovers, thanks for your comments.

I have use a dust mask anyway and it turns out my dad has an old industrial vac I can have so will be giving that a try first as its free!

Cheers

You might also want to consider getting one of the smaller cyclones like the ClearVue and use it inline before the vacuum. Before I had one, the filter in the Earlex kept blocking up with fine dust very very quickly. The Cyclone helped reduce this blocking up to negligible proportions.
