I need to get an extraction system set up for my bandsaw/table saw soon to be coming in the post, what do you think is the best solution?

Is a shop vac sufficient for me to wheel around and connect when using the designated machine?

My small workshop is in a live/work unit, so I live there too, and want something which will be the healthiest option!

I would ideally like something which is as quiet as possible.

Budget.... upto £300?

Thanks a lot! :D

You might just get something decent with £300 if your planing to wheel it around the shop.

Closer to the £400 mark but will get you a decent setup

Lower end.

Im assuming your TS and BS both have 100mm duct ports, anything in between these two seem to take lower sided piping. Thats from axminster anyway i haven't looked anywhere else.

I have a fixed system which is powered by this, it can be wheeled around but once you buy a pipe your over your £300 budget.

This one comes with the hose and clips

That Numatic NVD 750 is the front-runner as of now.

Is it quiet?

Any other recommendations anyone?

my main recommendation would be to stop living in your workshop!

(unless you just mean you spend all your time there...)

I have a makkita 440 and set up 2,1/2" piping all over my worshop to all tools, with blast gates and adaptors galore (think i found 8 different attachment sizes required for my fixed machines alone)
using that plus the auto start feature means that now i can just lift one specific blast gate for a machine, and when i turn it on, the extraction comes on automatically, no trundling around and attaching things, which was taking a lot of time.

downside was that once i had done all the adaptors and jubilee clips and piping, it cost £200, plus of course £300 for the vac... still, lifelong investment that could also make my life longer...

a combination of rutlands and axminster got me everything, rutlands were much better on adaptors

I got all my stuff from axi and in total over 1k spend and still expanding. It is mainly steel 4" though. I found rutlands had little available and what was in was more expensive??

Wow, that must be pretty heavy duty, does that include the extractor?

I had to get lots of adaptors due to combination of 4", 2", 2 1/2", 2 1/4", and 3 different metric values.... Rutlands had the lot.

the basis was this 2 1/2" kit

This allowed me to build blast gated ports at strategic fixed points around the wall.

I found the biggest unexpected cost was the flexible hose required between these points and my machines, as i needed them to be long enough to allow moving table saw (for example) out into centre of workshop for cutting panels (they are all on wheels). so I needed 8m odd of 63mm (2 1/2") hose, which was about £100 + adaptors etc...

Yes the flex hose is quite expensive. That price did include an extractor and many ali blast gates but a second extractor is required for power tools. Believe me if you saw it you wouldn't have thought its over a grands worth :( . It is a small commercial shop though for professional use. Lots of the cost is like you say adapters, stay put hoses & hoods. I probably need to spend another £500-600 more to complete it which does include another extractor.

I have 2 of the kits you posted a picture of. Have only used half of one up to yet and will be the ducting for the power tools and pillar drill. Everything else is 100mm.
