I am intending to buy a sedgwick planer/thicknesser and Xcalibur 10 inch table saw soon and am wondering what would be the best bet for chip/dust extraction I have a single motor camvac I use for most things at present,I have been thinking about the Scheppach Woova 3 with fine filter anyone have advice if that would be a good way to go.I am not going to be a heavy user.

Both machines should give a min air flow requirement in their spec? I would start looking at machines that match/exceed that requirement. :)

Hi Carl that looks like another option only difference 1 micon as opposed to 0.5 micron with scheppach not sure what the difference is breathing 1micron dust against 0.5 micron dust. the larger suction one requires 2 filters makes it slightl more than the scheppach I dont mind spending a few quid more to get it right.

I just got this combo for xmas. Definitely only needs one filter, good job at the price.

I picked this one because of the 'air-flow/£' ratio was the best I found, but it was still at the top of my budget.

I haven't used it in anger yet but it assembles easily and is sturdy enough, apart from the filter which is a very tight fit, I had to use fairy liquid and three clamps to fit it.

At some point I intend to put a Thien separator or cyclone in line which ought to remove most of the debris before it gets to the extractor, according to what I've read on here and elsewhere.

Let us know how you get on with it when you do try it out. It is on my short list for something like this :)

I was trying to find out the flow rate on my Axminster ADE2200 that I use with my Sedgwick to see how it compared with your Woova as I certainly wouldn't want to go below that of the Axminster.

Bear in mind the advice you get might be from those using a small 6" planer/thicknesser. Your Sedgwick when planing wide boards at a goodly cut (especially softwoods) is going to churn out shavings at a much greater rate of knots that a 6".

I use a non branded extractor with 850m3/hr with my 10" thicknesser and it's fine.
I do get a couple of missed chips when doing softwood @10" though.

Ah, well done, that man. Bit of a clue in the model number !!

So by my reckoning you are in danger of clogging up with the Woova.

Despite having 0.5 micron filters i still think the woova's are overpriced for what you get.
