I know that most people would just use plywood bottoms but that would mean buying a board in

drawer box 10mm (maybe take down to 8mm) drawer bottom 6mm
drawer dimensions 350x200
drawer height 45mm
I have been using mahogany for carcass but running at over 60% waste due to timber I have
thought I had enough for complete build
once I have avoided nails\removed t&g \resawn \planed etc i was amazed at how much stock I have "wasted"
I am a bit concerned my project will be too many different woods and look like a mis-match
the drawer bottoms will not be visible tbh

I'd say so, yes.

Pine bottoms were the general choice on pre-war drawers, generally around 5/16" or 3/8" thick. If the drawer is wider than about 24" or 26" then think about a muntin before increasing bottom thickness. You'd only really step up to a 7/16" or 1/2" bottom for something like the deep and wide bottom drawer in a kitchen unit. You might step down to a 1/4" bottom for a drawer less than 10" or 12" wide.
